Bombay Sapphire gin was first launched in 1986.
Unlike other gins, it is distilled in classic copper stills.
It takes its name from a violet-blue sapphire called the "Bombay Star", which was unearthed in Sri Lanka during the period when India was a British colony.
10 botanicals are used in its production:
Lemon peel
Almond
Licorice
Juniper
Orris
angel grass
Kababe
cassia
Coriander
grains of paradise
While it is sold with 40% alcohol content in Europe, it is sold with 47% alcohol content to other countries.
