The word whiskey comes from the Scottish and Irish dialects 'uisge beatha' meaning 'water of life'.

According to historical records, the name whiskey is first encountered in the notebook of John Corr, who was a priest in 1494.

Whiskey is matured by distilling barley, wheat, rye, corn and similar grains and keeping them in oak barrels.

It can be consumed neat, mixed with water, ice or other hot and cold drinks, and can also be used in alcoholic cocktails.

Generally, whiskeys are divided into three categories: Scotch, Irish and American or Bourbon. Apart from these countries, it is also produced in Wales, England, Germany, Canada, Australia, Japan, India, Finland, France, South Africa and New Zealand. Although Ankara Whiskey started to be produced in Turkey in 1963, its production stopped after the privatization of Tekel.

Whiskeys are aged in barrels, not bottles. In other words, waiting for a bottled whiskey does not ensure that the whiskey ages. Since it does not age in the bottle, it does not need to be stored horizontally.

Whiskey; It is produced from grains such as barley, corn, rye, water and yeast. No additional materials are used in its production; But caramel can be added as a coloring agent.
